Crucial Care & Maintenance Tips for Your Kitchen Equipment

Ask any homeowner or restaurant owner if their kitchen should have modern equipment, and I guess everyone would say yes. Right, kitchen equipment can help you prepare, cook, store and serve many types of food, and for best results you need to properly care for them. From the refrigerator to the stove and electronics to the cookware & bakeware, handling and caring for all the equipment in the kitchen ensures that the food is prepared and served efficiently, and everyone working there is safe and secure. Here are a couple of crucial care and maintenance tips for your kitchen's equipment.

Regularly Clean Them

The first step towards properly caring and maintaining for your cookware & bakeware (as well as all the other kitchen equipment) would be to regularly clean them. Like, do it after every use.  You should also create a cleaning schedule for these.

Clean them after every use, so that they won't rust (and no dirt or grime will stay on them). Also consider disinfecting items like grills, knives. Pots and pans, friers, meat slicers and more on a daily basis.

Read the Manuals Carefully

Like any other equipment in the home, cookware & bakeware, as well as all the other kitchen equipment, come with instruction manuals. Make sure you faithfully follow these manuals, because these often have explicit instructions especially when it comes to cleaning, handling and storing them.

Buy From Authorized & Reputable Dealers

Don't just purchase kitchen equipment from anyone or anywhere. Make sure you get them only from authorized and reputable dealers. Remember that there are a lot of fake, or fly-by-night dealers. If choosing the right kitchen equipment is a challenge for you, then ask for referrals from friends, co-workers and kitchen equipment experts, as well as read online product reviews.

Regularly Inspect Them

When caring and maintaining for your cookware & bakeware (and other kitchen equipment), develop a habit for carefully inspecting them on a regular basis, to firmly establish if they have any issues or problems (like factory defects or sudden wear and tear). Regular maintenance will help eliminate costly replacements.

Clean & Sharpen Knives

If you have kitchen knives (which I obviously think you have!), then consider sharpening them on a regular basis. Regular sharpening not only enhances their efficiency but it also makes them last much longer.

If you're looking for best results, consider sharpening your knives at least once a week. But, do not ever use harsh cleansers and sprays when cleaning these items, because these will make them dull.  Instead, just use hot water and natural soap, and then wipe them with a cotton rag.

Dip Stainless Steel Cookware in Boiling Water with Soap

If you are using stainless steel cookware & bakeware, don't wash them with a plain dishwasher, but instead dip them in boiling water with soap. Allow for some time to clean, like for an hour. From thereon, scrub these using a non-abrasive scrub.

So, if you want your kitchen to be efficient, and safe, make sure you properly care for all your kitchen equipment.
